Paraboot

Paraboot is a French footwear company that originally began under the name ‘Chaussures Extra’ in 1908. It starts with Rémy Richard being sent from home from the frontline in World War 1 to repair boots and footwear for military use. After the war he continued to work on producing high-end luxury shoes famously made of high quality leather. In the mid 1920s, after travelling around different cities on trade shows through Europe, he went to New York and discovered for himself the idea of tactile rubber soles on boots.

In 1937 Rémy’s son, Julien joined the company and with his interest in nature and hunting, decided to change the brands direction from the course of other competitors and focused more on the design and construction which would advertised more towards people that were always on their feet,  needed a reliable and durable shoe, for example farmers, factory workers, and other blue collar jobs. As well as, they also continued to produce footwear that was for fashionable inner city residents, that need professional, smart footwear.

Paraboot then continued to produce sturdy but stylish footwear that has been ingrained in French heritage. More recently it has become more popular with silhouettes like the Micheal/Marche (shown in image) and the Chambord.
