BEAMS

The brand BEAMS or BEAMS+ is a Japanese brand established in 1976 by its founder Yo Shitara with the help of his father Etsuzo Shitara. Yo created the brand inspired by Suiting styles from the USA and later Europe which was trending at the time. The brand being a huge success in Tokyo slowly started branching off creating a subculture from within making BEAMS F in 1981. Later on, the brand had a huge demand for womenswear which was answered by Ray BEAMS another separate collection made in 1984. Most of its 150 stores are now widely spread across Japan, while its international locations include Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing and Bangkok. These stores contain many of the different labels BEAMS has to offer with a huge base of their sales being online and to other retail stores e.g. END. in Europe.

My main favourite label made by Yo was the streetwear label BEAMS+ which dives into the European and US streetwear market adding styling abilities made in Tokyo by the customers themselves, this label has exploded over recent years in the European streetwear industry especially because it is such a rare label to attain as all of their stores are based in Asia other than some small collections contained in certain retail stores of which has only happened in the last couple seasons. The brand has also brought many different well-known companies into its online market such as Arc’teryx and thousands more making outfits that customers can buy, make outfits and post on their website.

Customers of BEAMS also find new and upcoming brands that join BEAMS on their website which generates thousands of new followers every week from all around the globe. This makes it easy for the company to collaborate and make more and more collections throughout the seasons.
