Balenciaga is founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga in 1917 in his home of Spain. As the founder, Cristóbal established the brand in Paris, and he designed collections until 1968. He is reputed as being a couturier of uncompromising standards and was referred to as “the master of us all” by Christian Dior and as “The Couturier of the Couturiers” by Gabrielle Chanel. Balenciaga has been famous for its simple, pure and elegant style for 100 years, but after the new designer Demna welcomed in 2015, the style has changed radically. He challenges the limit of “beauty”, and also expounds people’s concept of “ugly”, sometimes people often use “cool” to describe it. Sharp tailoring and shape, exaggerated silhouette and image have become the symbols of Balenciaga. With its unique, avant-grade and creative design, Balenciaga has become one of the most concerned brands in the fashion industry, favoured by many consumers and fashion lovers.
